About

I’m Annamaria, creator of Bakewell Junction and I love baking.  I also love to share my baked goods with my friends and family.  I hope that your visit leaves you with thoughts of my busy kitchen.  My Italian background means my kitchen is always full of family, friends and great food.  Thanks for visiting my site and I hope you’ll return soon.

I was born and raised in The Bronx, NY but more than thirteen years ago my husband and I moved upstate to Hopewell Junction, NY.  Being Italian we made sure we were able to get the foods we knew and loved in our new neighborhood.  Our new house boasts a double-oven which is great for my favorite pastime – baking.

My recipes are usually from family recipes, other food blogs, cookbooks, favorite cooking shows or food magazines.  I do make recipes that are appetizers and main dishes which are usually ethnic Italian specialties along with a mix of eclectic favorites.

During the summer I grow a small garden, so you might see some gardening posts mingled with my food posts.  Enjoy!

  1. Hey Anna! I’m finally leaving you a comment. Thanks for giving me Grandma’s recipe for the Pizzelle’s! They’re great! I let the guys at work taste them, and they loved them. They keep telling me to open up my own bakery. LOL! The chocolate Ghirdelli brownie cookie things you brought me are absolutely fantastic too! I have to learn that recipe next, and the cannoli cupcake recipe too. Can’t wait. All in moderation though or else my trainer will go ape$@@$/!! If I continue to eat my favorite food (which in my opinion should be the only food group we should need to be able to survive, lol).

  2. You really make it seem so easy with your presentation but I find this topic to be actually something that I think I would never understand. It seems too complex and very broad for me. I’m looking forward for your next post, I will try to get the hang of it!

  3. Anna, Congratulations! This is great, I love that I can learn all about Magia Dolci maybe my pizzeles will finally taste like yours.
    Love ,
    Angela

  4. Hi Annamarie, I’m glad you stopped by from YBR November Roundup. I too grew up in the Bronx but we moved to Long Island when grampy & I married way back when. I would luv if you followed me so we can share our family recipes – which I sometimes make-over to lighten them a little. I just finished reading your cookie posts, they all sound so delicious. I’m a little slow posting mine.

    I look forward to sharing,
    Joanne

  5. Anna,
I promise I’m not a stalker. I noticed that you had pinned my 8 Tips for Optimizing Pinterest and then I noticed that you live in Hopewell Junction! I live in the town of Poughkeepsie. Small world. I’ll be following along now on all your social media, especially since we’re practically neighbors.

  6. Annamaria- I love baking, I love your website, and I’d love you to visit my website. I am a little confused about the 12 loaves…I saw a list that said August was fruit bread, and I entered in my contribution, and then when I came back, the list said that August was savory month! Clicking on the 12 loaves link only takes one to another recipe. How can I sort this out? I would love for you to visit my site as well! Thanks, Debbie@ kneaded Creations

  7. Can’t wait to spend some time checking out your recipes. Thanks for joining in with Lovin’ the Weekend Blog Hops.
I was born and raised in Queens, NY (almost went to Bronx Science for high school but ended up at Townsend Harris). Left the city when my oldest son was a few months old. I have lived in Western NY and Northern PA ever since. Don’t think I could ever go back to the city. I also am half Italian.
Anyhow, was stopping by to also tell you you have been randomly selected as this weekend’s Featured Host for Lovin’ The Blog Hop. I could not find an email for you, so I am leaving you a comment and hope you will see it. I need you to please reply to kewkew34@yahoo.com (please put Lovin’ The Weekend Blog Hops Featured Host in the subject line). I will need a little blurb, sharing with our readers why you blog, what you blog about, how long you have been blogging, that kind of thing. I will add your blurb to the post along with your button (if you have one). We would also love for you to share our Lovin’ The Weekend button on your blog, but it is not mandatory. Please email me as soon as you have a chance so I get it set up. Thanks.
    Karen

  8. Perhaps our paths crossed. I too was born and raised in the Bronx (not far from Arthur Ave) and moved to Carmel 24 years ago however my sister moved to Hopewell Junction about 5 years ago. We do visit the old neighborhood during the holidays to buy mozzarella, bread, fish, etc. There is nothing that comes close to the products found in the Arthur Avenue stores.

I'd love for you to leave a comment. I enjoy reading them all.
